Saturday, My 30, 2009 / 7 p.m.
I can't quite believe we've made it to a sixth Autobody Fine Art Dinner. It started out as a small idea, along the lines of "Hey, if I cooked for a bunch of people would anyone show up?," and then it sort of snowballed on it's own. So, I'm celebrating by cooking Indian food. I grew up on this stuff, my mother hated cooking, so my father would take us out. A lot. As I got older, I learned how to make the dishes I loved, change things a bit (slightly less hot, fresher ingredients, more salads), but have tried to retain the integrity, aroma and sensual nature of the originals.
So, please come and join us at Autobody for dinner. It will be a great chance to experience a more intimate look at the next show coming up, "ID-Entity,” a photography exhibition exploring the many ways in which we imprint ourselves and others. These large-scaled portraits confront and comment on the way portrait photography has been traditionally defined, while at the same time being beautiful, seductive and psychological expressions of self. The evening will feature a performance by an amazing, professionally trained acrobat (we're always trying to outdo ourselves here), and, of course, there will be limited edition print commemorating the evening for you to take home. If you are a member and have not already taken advantage of the offer, then you can attend one dinner a year for free.
